SOLUTION · AUTOMATED PICKING

Automated picking: mixed pallets, prepared automatically.

What's the key to efficiently managing high-volume orders?

LogiPath is the local Romanian partner of international manufacturers and integrators of automated picking solutions for factories and distribution centres. For markets with high order volumes — beverages, food, retail, distribution — where large quantities of product need to be prepared and shipped fast. Automated picking systems build the correct order, boost efficiency, and cut cost per order, without operators walking miles through the warehouse.

In short

Automated picking builds orders without operators walking miles through the warehouse: the system brings goods to ergonomic workstations (goods-to-person) or builds mixed pallets directly. It covers layer picking and case picking for mixed pallets and, for piece-level orders, goods-to-person systems, with constant throughput and very high order-level accuracy.

HOW IT WORKS

Two technologies for automated order preparation.

Depending on how you ship — in product layers or individual cases — picking is designed around one of them or a combination, integrated with autonomous vehicles and the warehouse.

Layer picking: articulated robot with universal vacuum gripper, served by conveyors that transfer full product layers onto the pallet
01 · LAYER PICKING (BY LAYERS)

Mixed pallets, built layer by layer.

A universal gripper picks up full layers of different products and places them on the order pallet, served by autonomous vehicles. Ideal for large SKU counts with fast turnover, in beverages, food, and distribution. Gentle handling through vacuum grip and high reliability, with a device that prevents products from falling.

Case picking: high-density AS/RS warehouse with case conveyors feeding the picking stations
02 · CASE PICKING (BY CASES)

Case-level orders, with fewer conveyors and sorters.

Automated order preparation at the case level, which reduces or eliminates traditional conveyors and sorters. Flexible and scalable, it adapts to your SKU range and prevents bottlenecks, maintaining constant throughput even at peak.

WHY IT MATTERS

Correct orders, lower cost, zero walking through the warehouse.

01

Correct order

The system builds the order exactly right. Fewer errors, fewer returns, fewer complaints.

02

Efficiency and lower cost

High throughput without operators walking between racks. The same team prepares far more orders.

03

Flexibility and scalability

It adapts to your SKU range and grows with you, without redesign.

04

No bottlenecks

Reduces conveyors and sorters that can jam, for continuous flow, even at peak.

DESIGNED ON DATA

Sized for your operation, validated through simulation.

We don't start from a catalog, but from your data: how many SKUs you have, how they turn over, your peak order throughput, what your average order looks like. We compare scenarios through simulation, choose the right technology — layer, case, or a combination — and size the system to be efficient from the first SKU to the last.

  • For large SKU ranges with fast turnover
  • For orders by layers or by cases
  • Integrates into existing facilities, with minimal impact
  • Modular system — add capacity as you grow
  • Constant throughput, including seasonal peaks
  • Full traceability for every order
ONE SINGLE SYSTEM

Picking doesn't work alone. It connects to the entire flow.

Each technology has its place, but the value comes from how everything connects: replenishment and pickup of completed orders are served by autonomous vehicles, and everything is coordinated by the orchestration layer, connected to your WMS/ERP. Orders come in, get prepared, and ship out, in one continuous flow.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Frequently asked questions

What types of automated picking are there?

For mixed pallets, two: layer picking (builds mixed pallets layer by layer) and case picking (case-level preparation, with fewer conveyors/sorters). For piece-level orders: goods-to-person/goods-to-robot (goods come to the operator or another robotic station).

What industries is automated picking suited for?

For markets with high order volumes — beverages, food, retail, distribution — where orders need to be prepared accurately and shipped fast.

How do I choose the right picking technology?

We start with your data — number of SKUs, turnover, order throughput, average order size — and compare scenarios through simulation before you invest.
